The 6th annual Semi Permanent design conference was held at Auckland’s Aotea Center over the weekend. Twelve speakers, 1500 audience members, two days. Passionate presentations covering everything from typography to photography to animation.

Among the highlights were Bibliotheque’s Tim Beard, who was unmatched in the passion with which he spoke about type and kerning and printing and image and info design and…

Another mention goes to Kate Moross, the latest hot young thing to come out of London. She is a 23 year old one-man-brand with an amazing portfolio of work under her belt – everything from magazine covers to launching her own record label, to designing a t-shirt range for Top Shop and illustrating the Oxford St window display. With wisdom and experience beyond her years, her authority over what she does and what she stands for was refreshing inspiration.

Another bonus was seeing the guys from Cut Collective ‘live painting’ the next artwork in their billboard series.
