Jenni Stringleman is a Devonport resident who in recent years has returned to her first love of painting in oils. Having lived in the UK for 11 years, working in graphic design and animation, Jenni returned to New Zealand in 2005. She says ‘For me, painting is an expression of joy. I simply love the act of applying oils to canvas, and recently this has lead me to explore leaving areas of glowing glazes over the original acrylic underpainting, resulting in a fresh mix of thick oils, and semi-transparent washes of colour, high detail combined with gestural strokes.’
Jenni’s work up close appears to be abstract shapes made up of bright colours but as you step back they start to shape and the forms bloom into beautiful floral scenes.
