Cristina Viscu of Wild Wagon has stolen our hearts again with the ‘Wave Study’ series. We got busy framing some A1’s in our endemicworld raw oak frames to hang in store, and had a bit of fun styling them too. This marble pattern is ridiculously trendy right now, and something cool and serene to bring you into the summer months.

Three, two, one: Mini Q&A with artist Kriselle Poy

Wellington based Kriselle Poy’s art prints are in the fresh produce isle here at endemicworld. Explosive colour combines with delicate watercolour patterns to create her refreshing, uplifting designs.

We’ve asked Kriselle a few questions about her practice as an introduction to you all.

What are three words that describe your artistic practice or the way you work?

Experimental yet considered, intuitive

Two things that most influence your style/subject matter are…

To me really the simplest of things like textures and patterns in our everyday life are the starting points for any work. You can get ideas from anywhere if you are open to it. One day I might like a certain kind of flower, the next day I might be into geometric shapes, then the next I might want to try a new watercolour technique and so it’s always changing. I just like to be really open minded.

Do you have one favourite quote which you live by?

There’s this quote which is more like a saying, “Never lose your childlike sense of wonder”.

Print Pairs: Bold and beautiful

Autumn is fast approaching (and the leaves are a- falling), and with change of season comes a change in trends. Before we head into winter we thought it was time to throw some colour into the mix and give black and white a wee rest. Below are a collection of bold and strikingly colourful interiors and as usual, some fab prints to go with!

Yhodesign is the creative brand of graphic designer and cool- guy, Yhodie Hendra Zaldi. We spotted Yhodie’s work when he started using our artist services, and couldn’t resist working with him and his prints.

Born in Indonesia and recently graduating from Yoobee School of Design, Yhodie now lives and works here in Auckland, NZ.

Yhodie’s approach to design is bold and graphic, colour and geometric shape are cleverly used to create the animal forms in his designs.

Kingswood Ski’s use design

[business:Kingswood Skis] from Lyttelton have been hand making skis with bamboo cores since 2005. Recently they had a topsheet design done by Klaus Kremer, a font that has seen itself get attention overseas and published.

Formway wins design award

Formway just scored this top award. Super prestigous in the commercial furniture design industry. Formway is a design company from the Hutt (Wellington), yet another kiwi company owning it offshore. In this case, showing the world how to make a legendary chair.

Firstly, BIG UP to Formway for the award.

Smart Light Sydney
