59 Rivoli: Artists claim old building in Paris

This week we are admiring the French gallery space called 59 Rivoli, a building in Paris saved from demolition by a group of ever- changing and evolving artists. Entry is free.

Imagine all the old buildings that could be revived in this way! We know we’d certainly be keen for this in AK city…

Collaborative spaces such as 59 Rivoli are important parts of the art community as they involve the public, and give artists the opportunity to create an interactive dimension to their pieces.

For more on 59 Rivoli, click here. (You may need to get ‘yo French on’ to read it, but the pictures say it all really)

Endemicworld invited to attend Supergraph 2015!

Endemicworld has been invited to attend Supergraph 2015! We are stoked to be one of only 6 international art spaces and stores chosen for the event.

Supergraph is Australia’s Contemporary Graphic Art fair celebrating design, print and illustration.

From the 13th -15th of February, emerging talent and award winning artists come together in the fair to showcase their works for a range of budgets, tastes and styles.

Inspired to get stuck into creating art yourself? The fair includes workshops, artist-led masterclasses and family events to get those creative juices flowing.

For us, Supergraph is a chance to proudly show off some sweet local talent and NZ art prints to the Aussie design industry. Artists being exhibited at the endemicworld booth in the International Salon include:

Cinzah SeekayemChloe RubyNatasha VermeulenGlenn JonesWalter HansenToby Morris and Greg Straight.

Bringing Back The Good Stuff

It’s been a while since we put together a Links We Love post! And who doesn’t love some designy distraction? Exactly. Totally agree with you.

1. Awesome free printables (gift tags and note paper) over at the excellent Creature Comforts blog.

2. By now, I’m sure you know about the brother magazine to Frankie – Smith Journal. Well the Smith website is seriously good, and includes a new series of videos, where characters from the latest issue jump off the page into short films. Check it out.

3. Imagine living here – a beautiful Brisbane home tour over at The Design Files.

4. Make your desktop feel LIKE A BOSS.

Blog Love

It’s been a busy week at endemicworld HQ so far… time to stop for a cuppa and a blog-break.
Here’s some of our favourite posts (from some of our favourite blogs) this week:

One of the very best parts of the amazing Design Sponge blog are the Sneak Peeks – tours of ordinary people’s homes. This one’s a beauty.

The weekly design Pick n’ Mix over at Fancy is always full of goodies.

Carry a napkin – you’ll be drooling over the recipes and the beautiful styling at Made From Scratch. Rachael’s latest recipe is Ginger Thins. Get in my belly!

Also this week, Studio Home caught up with NZ illustrator Kelly Spencer, who’s travelling around the Gold Coast in a van.

This is definitely going to happen at our place. Designer DIY cords, thanks to DesignLoveFest.

Linocut Print Making Process Video by Linocutboy

It is always a pleasure to watch an artist and see how their process of making art prints works. They are all different, some are protective of this process, some share it in beautiful videos. We just discovered linocutboy : – ) Check it out, talk about steady hands and thumb cramp. It makes you realise the extraordinary effort that goes into creating art prints. It is not as simple as some may think. This “Deep Sea Diver” print is an edition of #25 and took a few weeks to make!
